About the shade

Bronze Moss is a muted olive green with a warm brown undertone, like moss with a bit of metal in it. It's yellower than Juniper Green and darker and greener than khaki. In warm light it looks almost golden, and on a cloudy day it settles into a deeper, earthier green. It sits right where green and brown meet, so it rarely feels cold.

Where you'll see it

Moss on old stone walls, olive trees in the shade, canvas tents, and the underside of leaves in late summer. You'll see it at a pond's edge, in lichen on a fence post, in dried bay leaves, and in old army surplus bags. It shows up in bronze statues that have weathered outside for years and in fields as summer turns toward fall.

In your home

Kitchen cabinets, a mudroom, a study, or one accent wall in a living room. It pairs well with cream, terracotta, brass, natural wood, rattan, and soft rust. Linen pillows, a vintage rug, and potted plants all sit happily beside it. It's also a good color for a front door or exterior trim, and in a bathroom it works nicely with cream tile and brass fixtures.

In everyday life

A canvas tote, a field jacket, a garden notebook, or a favorite pair of boots. It's in a wool cardigan, a ceramic planter, a corduroy shirt, or the cover of a sketchbook you take outside. It's at its best on the things that get used and worn in, the pieces that look better the longer you have them.

Color and spirit

Olive and moss greens are often tied to the heart chakra, traditionally linked with growth and balance. In many cultures the olive branch stands for peace, and in feng shui green belongs to the wood element, associated with health and new growth. Moss agate and green aventurine are crystals often linked with this shade, moss agate with nature and abundance and green aventurine with growth and opportunity. Notice where it pulls you outdoors.
