About the shade
Olive Stone is a warm khaki taupe with a soft olive tint, lighter than Bronze Moss and grayer than tan. It's a neutral with just enough green in it to keep things interesting. In warm light it leans toward a golden beige, and in cool light the green shows more. It's softer and more muted than Honeyed Linen, with none of its yellow.
Where you'll see it
River pebbles, dry summer grasses, natural linen, and weathered driftwood. It's in mushrooms, sandstone, burlap, and the bark of a sycamore tree. Look for it in old olive tree trunks, dried sage leaves, and fieldstone walls.
In your home
It works as a neutral all through the house, in living rooms, bedrooms, and hallways. It pairs well with white, rust, sage, black accents, and warm wood. A linen sofa, stoneware dishes, or a jute rug feel right beside it. It's also a good choice for kitchen cabinets, a bathroom vanity, or the outside of a house when you want something warmer than gray.
In everyday life
A trench coat, a canvas bag, a sketchbook, or a pottery planter on the windowsill. It's in a linen shirt, a wool scarf, a leather belt, or a set of woven baskets. It's the kind of color that goes with almost everything you already own, which makes it an easy one to start with.
Color and spirit
Warm earthy neutrals are often tied to the root chakra, associated with stability and feeling settled in your surroundings. In feng shui, taupes and khakis belong to the earth element, linked with balance and support. Smoky quartz, jasper, and petrified wood are often associated with this color family, all traditionally used for grounding. Notice whether it feels like a backdrop or a color all its own.
